Recording the “He’s Always There” album was therapeutic for me. I wrote and recorded songs that ministered to me during the crisis of my son’s illness. I later found out that they ministered to the situations of others also. Cancer has touched nearly all of us in some form. Included on the album are 12 songs of faith, trust, and victory in God. Some of my favorites are; “Sonshine and Blue Skies”, I wrote this song one beautiful sunny day. It was about the time we got some real good news concerning Cornell’s illness. It was upbeat and reflected how I was feeling at the time. I asked the Melo-D-heirs to assist me with recording it and they responded in a big way by adding in some of that Melo-D-heir creativity and spontaneity. Frank Melton and Lawrence Robins threw in some lead vocals, Lamont Robins brought the bottom, and Tony Fletcher helped smooth out the BGVs! It was a wonderful time and an instant hit! The legendary Soul Stirrers made the next 4 songs popular.  I’m a career military man and there’s nothing I would love to see more than “World Peace”. This is a utopian’s song. The lead-in samples are actual news clips from the day I recorded it. “It’s Me Again, says it all, I didn’t write this song but I sure feel like I could have. It’s exactly how I felt after the 13,000th time I approached God regarding our situation! A lot of people really love this song. In fact, I think it’s still my dad’s favorite. The days I recorded “Farther Along” and “The Last Mile of the Way” were special, not just because they are great songs, but because I got a chance to sing with my Aunt Sang and Uncle Roosevelt Leonard.  The title track is “He’s Always There. I remember writing this song right there in the hospital at about 2:30am. Though I had family and friends who were there for me during the crisis, I couldn’t bring myself to call them all hours of the night. Fortunately, I have a heavenly father who doesn’t sleep and is always there to hear me “even in the middle of the night”. My sister-in-law, Angela Adams, has a voice like you wouldn’t believe. It’s not just the fact that it’s so dynamic but it’s so warm and believable. “God Will Bring You Through” has encouraged many listeners. People all over the nation have testified of its assuring message.  I’m often asked, “Which album is best?” Truthfully, I can’t answer that question because they all are favorites among many listeners as well as myself.  However, with a 100% guarantee, you can’t lose--so get all of them!
